Upside down, backwards, or inside out

Hi! Welcome to one of my rare posts on this neglected blog of mine! What's the hardest thing you have to do creatively? One of mine is when facing a blank page with not an idea in my head, especially when journaling. I have just started a new journal given to me, and believe me, I have lots of blank books, I just seem to collect them! I started inside with this page and have started a couple more ...it is going to be an alphabet journal ( inspired by Joanne Sharpe) .

So I thought  , I am making time to create the  cover which was a blank canvas type. I started off with the new Crafters Workshop stencils and some Cosmic Shimmer Clear Texture Paste. I carefully spread the paste which I had mixed with some mica powder paints that we used to sell, through the stencil , on both the front and the back cover. Loved it , beautiful , let it dry, and sprayed on top with Dylusions sprays and blotted off. Then I closed  the book and looked at it, as you do ....oops major #fail!! I had made the cover upside down and back to front! Not a happy bunny:(  So back to drawing board . I could use it backwards or re bind it..not really an option...(I am kind of has to be the right way kinda girl) or redo the cover . So back out with the stencils and the paste, and add more , this time the right round! One cover..with a little bit of a blip!

Question is? can you spot the mistakes....lol

Ranger Workshop and more classes...

I taught a class on Saturday which was very much inspired from a class I did at CHA in January with Tim Holtz. Because some of the products have not yet hit the shops, I improvised and used some Artistic Stamper stamps, and used products already available.
It was a fun class, and I love how everyone did their own thing!
Here are some pictures....

Can you guess the original creation from Tim's class, and my interpretation of it?

If you fancy a class which has been inspired by my CHA experience, I am teaching a lettering for your journal class this Saturday , very much influenced by Joanne Sharpe.

You can find all of our classes here

An inspiring Workshop

Last Saturday I taught a workshop at The Artistic Stamper, which had been planned for ages, but actually took inspiration from one of the classes I did at CHA, with Seth Apter , whose work is inspiring, and is such a lovely person too! Check him out here.
It involved loads of paint and different techniques, including a take on an Andy Skinner technique and I actually did 3 canvases,

one in Seth's class at CHA,

one as a sample,

and the one that evolved throughout the class...

it was a fun day and definitely going to be worth repeating!
Check out these gorgeous creations from the class too!

Hope you like...

CHA 2014

I have definitely been awol from this dear blog :( but I have an excuse! I have been away hobnobbing with the stars in Los Angeles! It was definitely a case of do I, don't I go, last week, and finally at the last minute, DH decided I should go, and one packed, almost empty suitcase ( with space for bringing back all those goodies!!) , and a pair of sunglasses later , I was on a plane to Anaheim, to spend time with the stars! LOL I got back Wednesday and today is Friday, jet lag is almost non existent (I am lucky I don't really suffer from it), and it's back to work!
I had such a brilliant time, and met lots of new crafting folk, caught up with old friends, and saw masses of new goodies for you!
I did 9 workshops, all of them fabulous , and all of them different. The Ranger one with Tim Holtz used the new mini distress inks and tool, and we even got to try the new Distress Marker Spritzer! I took classes with Joanne Sharpe learning how to do my own lettering, a fabulous canvas class with Seth Apter, ( some of which I will be teaching next weekend). I also did a class with Candy Rosenberg, using Graphic 45 papers, and Printers Tray! One of my favourite classes was, of course, Graphc 45, and we made a gorgeous Book Box, which will be available as a workshop very soon :)
No CHA would be complete without photos, and my camera skills do need to be honed, but here are the first of my pictures, with more to come in the next couple of days! Here are a few of my favourite people...

Enjoy!
