Wax and Waning

I did promise that I would tend my blog with love and care, and several weeks ago I taught a wax class, and never did get round to showing you my canvas. We worked with wax in the melt pot stamps, moulds and the very useful serviettes... never pass by a pretty serviette, you never know when it might be useful!! lol
Here are the girls gorgeous creations!

Do you Wax??!

Of course you do! Even I do, who wouldn't? lol Of course I am talking about waxing.. you know the type in a pot or in my case a meltpot! Later today I am taking a class at Pickleberry Papercrafts which involves wax.. lots of it, and I had the greatest fun making this ring book for it. I thought I would show you a sneak peek of it...

Me and my shadow!

are often found wandering around at night ...making cups of tea, and creating silly bits of art in my head while trying not to wake anyone else up in the house! This piece was thought up while sipping one of those cups of tea, and it took a little bit of time, but not hours, and involved melting some clear wax in a meltpot. Use a project pan, as it can burn easily, and one of Mrs Vecchi's Botanical stamps. and of, course the spider!! What art would be complete without the spider? The words are from Mr Holtz's 100 Odds and Ends set, and are so neat, and tidy and just fit anywhere!
I stamped the flower in distress inks, and brushed the wax over them to give a bit of depth, and lightly covered them in Cafe Perfect Pearl's. If these aren't on the website they will be shortly!

Meltpot Art at Ranger U

I couldn't wait to do meltpot art with Suze, as I have been using a meltpot ever since I first saw Suze demonstrating with the first one many years ago.... When they first came out I acquired one from the States, and still use it to this day. I love the fact that you can mould stuff, pour stuff, and create stuff! Being a jeweller it appeals to my sense of 3D, and I often find things to mould using the moldnpour compound. Old jewellery bits are good, and charms are fab!

Suze taught us lots of techniques using the meltpot,with utee, and beeswax, something I shall do more of, and adding lots of glitz as well.

Ranger U had made frames for all of us to put all our finished techniques on, a very inspirational idea I think, and it meant we had them all in one piece and could of course hang them at home! I was a bit concerned mine might be damaged on the journey, but wrapped up well with bubble and lots of American newspaper it made it home in one piece!

Here is the finished piece, some of it I would love to redo, but for the moment it is as it is!

These are just a few of the techniques taught, and I promise I will teach you some of them.
