mini canvas workshop

Yesterday was great fun as always! A mini half day workshop at Pickleberry with yours truly always makes me realise that there is so much potential out there, and oh boy we always have so much fun! The idea was to semi recreate Tim's workshop from Stitches with the tools that we had. I managed to get a full set of the new Distress marker pens for everyone to use and try, and with lots of die cutting and craft knife cutting ( I was amazed that some people had never used a craft knife to cut out!) new techniques were learnt, and gorgeous original artwork was made! Thank you to Rosemary, Barbara, Lesley, Caroline, Liz and Carole for putting up with me, and to Kate for hosting!
Here are a few of the creations made during the morning. No pics of the class as I had my camera on the wrong setting and they are just a blur!! doh! Must remember to check settings before taking pictures! The last one is mine, and only half of it as I didn't get time to finiahs it! too busy teaching!!

1234...time to myself....

One thing I love about the long bank holiday weekends, is that I am not technically working, that I can please myself, that the sun shines, and that I can fiddle with *stuff*. This weekend has gone by in a flash, and I have fiddled on my desk, tidied up my shed, and spent some time relaxing....haha.. me relax?... that's falling asleep on the sofa!
This little piece is one the smallest of the mini canvases, and I have distress stained it, stamped on tissue paper, added watch pieces, and the numbers are a find from eBay that are slot together numbers for prices ( remember them?) that I cut the backs off with Tim's magic scissors, and the whole lot is multi mediumed together.. oh what did we do before it?!!!





I have another day sorting out the stuff found in the shed for eBay.. lots of goodies.. ( may be in 2/3/4 lots ..email me for details) and trying to tidy up the bottle filled desk before cracking open the Pimms! First BBQ of the year later!! lol please don't rain!

Little things in life!

I thought I would show you a couple of the pieces I made at Ally Pally over the weekend. Often when I am demoing , I make quick and easy pieces, and I do give a lot away, but I did keep these two pieces!! Simple and so so easy to make.. I used 2 different size mini canvases, and coloured them with Distress Stains. Love these, so easy and quick to use, and you can enhance them with other Stain colours, which incidentally do colour over and not muddy!, or you can use your normal distress inks to fill in patches or highlight.  I poured UTEE over the inked canvas and immediately stamps into it. Love it when it drips down the sides! Then I added Perfect Pearls, and a mould from Crafty Notions which I also coloured with Perfect Pearls . The Elegant woman has the minutest piece of Gold leaf in her hair ( a happy Accident!)

Musically speaking...

I just had time this weekend to create something for the Sunday Stamper hosted by the delectable Miss Sheridan! The theme this week is music, and I wanted to use the new empty jar stamp. I had an idea to stamp it into clear utee, and fill it with music, which I have done. Easy to say, not quite so easy to do, however! I did manage successfully to stamp the bottle into clear utee poured onto a craft sheet. While it was till relatively warm, I trimmed around the bottle, and bent it over a round form, so you get the bottle shape. The utee remains fairly fragile once it has cooled, so handle it with care. If you mess it up just remelt and start again!
 A smattering of perfect pearls coloured the bottle. I glued an old music sheet to the inside of it, and using my still going silicone glue ( I am truly amazed by this!), I glued it to a mini canvas , which I painted in Claudine's Modern Red Studio paint , and covered with gold Mica spray while still wet. A few of the teeny weeny flowers from the Flower blooms stamp set decorated the edge.

I made gold metal flowers backed on Sticky back canvas from Tim's Tattered Floral die, and ran them through an embossing die. Smoosh a bit of red paint on a non stick crafts sheet and whoosh the flowers through it to get the raised edges red. Do you like the terminology? lol smoosh and whoosh!!

 I love the texture from the canvas through the metal. I added wire to the flowers , and slid them inside the jar.
The photos definitely do not do this justice sad face:( It was seriuosly difficult to photograph!

Love of my Life!

Great song, and a great challenge set by Hels this week on Sunday Stampers. I took a mini canvas, some stamps, Tim's Heart and wings die ( first time used! lol), and some Ten Seconds Studio metal, and put together this little piece.

I cut the heart out of a piece of reddish material and backed it with some card, and stuffed it with cotton wool..couldn't find my stuffing.. nothing unusual in that !!. I edged it in gold dabber, and did the same with the canvas. The canvas is painted with Claudine's paints in Modern Red. The little crown and wings were cut out in gold metal, added a little bit of red dabber to them, and ran through the embossing folders.

I hope it qualifies!

Bits and Pieces

Ove on Hels blog the Sunday Stamper theme is bits and pieces, a song by Dave Clark Five, which takes me back to my youth ( ok not quite as I am far too young to remember it..lol).
I have had in mind a piece I have wanted to make for ages, and it was inspired by an advert in a craft magazine. Remember the beads in last week's woyww post? Well I took a Maya Road heart chipboard, literally sloshed masses of glossy accents all over it, and threw the beads on top of it!

I am sure you are thinking she is mad! but actually I did tip the bottle on top of it, and this was the result.

 It looked a bit lacking in sparkle, so I sprayed a little bit of Glimmer mist on top ( where would I be without them now? lol)

The mini canvas was given a Ferro paint treatment , and then I added a little bit of Inka Gold cream wax in Rose, and more mica sprays!

I hope it qualifies for bits and pieces... think this song will be in my head all day! bits and pieces.. bits and pieces... damn! rofl..

3 Little canvases went to market....

My Husband's three children were due to visit over Christmas, and I thought I would make them a little canvas each, as I couldn't think what else to give them, so I took 3 7 x 5 cm canvases and created different things with them.
The first is my tame version of "steampunk", and I just painted the background with Claudine's studio paints, and then added a little strip of Tim's film strip ribbon, and then added some PaperArtsy clock stamps and one of my own. I love the watch face as it still had a  hand on it. I feel a lot of steampunk (when I get time) coming on. Should I stick my neck out and say it will be 2010's biggest craft influence, or do you think flowers and pretty things will be?? Love to know what you think 2010 will bring...

The second mini canvas was one I had done before , but in minature, using Terra paint, with The Artistic Stamper star stamps stamped into it, and coloured using a mixture of Glimmer Mists and Crafty Notions Sprays.

Finally a rose canvas. Now this is using Tim's Flourish stamp, stamped into Terra, and then spray misted with Crafty Notions and a little bit of gold Glimmer Mist. The grungepaper rose is part of a video I have done which I will post at the end of the week (still editing it, especially the sneeze, that Mr Stig did just as I finished a section!!)

Mini Art

It seems a while since I made anything creative... is my mojo on holiday? I made some time yesterday to create, and as I often need a kick start, wandered around a few challenge blogs, and on Lots to Do challenge blog, you could use stamping! That was it, no colour , no card, just stamping. I had so wanted to make another grungepaper flower, so grabbed a little canvas, (this one is 2" x 2") some grungepaper, my favourite product of all time, Alcohol Inks, and some gold embossing powder, oh and of course the stamp! I made the flower in a similar way to the last time , but coloured it with alcohol inks, Purple Twilight, Raspberry, and Shell Pink. No blender! I did the same with the canvas. The grungepaper soaks up a lot of alcohol ink, but carries it beautifully.
I then used the Karantha Swirl stamp and heat embossed it in gold on top of the flower petals before gluing together. I did the same on the mini canvas. A shiny jewel in the middle of the flower, and the flower Glossy Accented onto the canvas and voila, an entry into the challenge.
Seems that pink seems be to be my favourite colour, not sure why as I would never wear it! Maybe I should call this blog the pink zone!
