Shabby Chic!

Earlier this week, Hels had a birthday, and I always try to make a card for her...but you know that saying... never enough time, but amazingly enough I found time, and I used the technique that I used for the Grungy Monday set of drawers to make a card. Shabby Chic is what it is called, just using Dabbers, clear embossing, and stamps, so simple but so effective!

I know she got the card in time ( good old postal service!)so I can show you
I am running backwards to get out to my class this morning... so love you and leave you
Have a creative Saturday!

This Charming Man!

I was right on track to blog every day so far. Trouble is, I forgot life, work, family, a complete lack of what on earth am I going to blog scenario reared its ugly head yesterday, and true to form, my New Year's resolution got broken!!! Hey does it matter, is the world going to fall in?  am I going to get eaten by my big shot, pinned down by my memo pins, attacked by my distress inks , if I don't make art everyday!!!????? probably!! lol So my new new resolution is to blog when I can.. hopefully more often than I did last year..so with that in mind, I liked the idea of Hels's Sunday Stamper challenge, and here is my charming man...

I used the Inspiration Jar and stamped it on Duralar , heated it gently and bent it slightly. I filled it with old clock and watch cogs , and added Phineas Pinchbeck to the top with a watch face. The Background is an Alterations music embossing folder layered onto a piece of Idea-ology Shabby Vintage. I know there really aren't charms in this.. but there is stamping!! lol
Thank you Hels for the challenge.
Have a very Creative day!

Let it snow...

I am old enough to remember the snowy winter of 1962-63...oh come on I am not THAT Old!! lol, My Dad made a sledge out of an old tin tray and me and my sisters used it on the hill by our house! This December reminds me of that year , but I am afraid the days of tin trays have long gone! I mean how ridiculous would that be ...me on a tin tray sledging.. ooh YES! a great idea! I think I will find myself a tin tray..rofl!!! In the meantime I have travelled on the trains to North London, seen my Mum (who is on the mend slowly) , and met up with DD in London (boy there were long lines at St Pancras for Eurostar!)  come home to fresh falls of snow, and even had time to make another tag! I have to say on another note to everyone who is snowed in we are still taking orders on the website and everything that goes out this week will be recorded, so we can track it.. doesn't mean you will get it any quicker , just so we can see you have got it! ..eventually....
Here is my tag for the day: ddistress ink background, embossed tag, Stickers from Seasonal Sticker book, and a little snowman charm covered in snow dabber!

Have a creative day !
Keep warm....

Tag 444! snowbound!

This is tag no 444! OK I am lying..it is only tag 4 of my withdrawal...not sure why as I thought I had done a tag everyday since T!m's gorgeous tags, but seem to be lagging behind! lol The snow heavens opened yesterday here, and we are surrounded by gorgeous white stuff! Sadly I am not able to get to see my Mum who is in hospital, so hoping to get there tomorrow. Mind you the trains are running.. that is in itself a miracle but she has ordered me not to make the trip! Think that was the influence of the morphine... so I have obeyed and been a good girl! For those of you who sent their wishes, thank you it is much appreciated, and there is a long way to go..but all is good at the moment :)
In the meantime while snowbound, I made a little tag. This time I used an embossing folder of the Snowman. I embossed it once on a tag and cut out the snowman in negative, and laid it on top of a distress inked tag, and just used a pearl dabber to make out the snowman before running the inked tag back through the embossing die. Does that make sense? I was going to clear emboss some snowflakes on the tag, but horror! I cannot find my pot of clear embossing powder! Mislaid in the piles of *stuff* filling my studio!! So I dabbered them instead!
Add a sticker from the seasonal sticker pad .. snow has come to my tags!!

I am entering this in Simon Says Stamp & Show Challenge as well as my own ( not that I can win anything...but it is just fun!)
Keep warm
Hugs

Colour Christmas Red and Green!

It is cold here in the UK with snow in some parts, and heading our way in the south east tomorrow!! I am snuggled up, not! and not sure if I can cope with another bout of snow where the council can't clear the roads, and everything grinds to a halt!!  Christmas is only a week away (HELP!!)  and I still have lots to do, and yes I am keeping up with my tags for the Tag withdrawal challenge, albeit that I might be blogging them a little slow...lol
Today I have made the most simplest of tags using one of Tim's Alterations embossing folders ( Merry Christmas and Vintage Holiday). So simple, just emboss it on the tag, and colour with Distress inks. (err I used red and green!) and add a small amount of Perfect Pearls powder in gold on the top half, add a red sparkly ribbon, and secure with sewing .. I can still see to thread a a needle ! result!

On a sadder note, my Mum has to go into hospital tomorrow for a major operation, so although I have done another tag for tomorrow, I have no idea what next week will bring,  but the challenge is open until after Christmas ( you can even enter your Tim tags if you are still making them, and I know some people are :)) and I will be round to see them.
Have a creative day!

Love at First Fright.!

Happy Halloween to you ! I had high hopes of doing a very spooky piece for you for today, but ended up with my two skeletons having a hug with a spider!! Now is she in love with the spider or her mate? lol The little charm on the tag made with Mr Holtz's embossing folder is from the girls paperie, and these are the heaviest charms I have seen in a long time.
I am having a day with DD today , so am off shopping and then dinner, and lots of spooky fun later in the dark!
Today is also the last day for the Warrior Woman's blog challenge, and for my blog candy, I will be picking the winner later today, and posting it tomorrow :))
Happy spookiness to you

I had two brilliant workshops, thank you to everyone who came on it.. hope you enjoyed it :)

Curiousity Masking....

This piece is for Linda's great challenge Compendium of Curiosities over on her blog-. This week's challenge is masks basics, on page 58, and I used the new Alterations Rickety House die, made my own mask, and added a few extras. Spot the pumpkin patch texture fade...which I cut out and distress inked. A little bit of Mustard Seed crackle paint for the moon and windows, and a few flying birds. Was kind of wishing for a tiny witch face for one of the windows.. but I don't have one :((

Thank you Linda for the challenge, it always stretches my creativity :))
Happy Creating

Learn to Pause...

Thank you everyone who commented yesterday on my very tidy desk...lol you should see it now! The push back method is starting again, but only because I am working on a couple of projects, and the inks are out with the bottles of paints and more!
I am having a problem concentrating at the moment, and the hormones this week have kicked in badly, making me very tired, but I cannot sleep, so this morning thought I would play with the new embossing folders and some of the new Lost and Found  papers from Mr Holtz. These are fab, and emboss beautifully as they quite thick. This is a little "journal" page I made using a mica sprayed tag already on my desk, and I stamped over it "David", and added the words to the side "learn to pause or nothing worthwhile will catch up with you". I forgot I had embossed the paper, so they don't show up very well :(. The paper was edged in crushed olive distress ink.
Hope you are having a creative day.
