Christmas comes early!

Yesterday at Pickleberry Papercrafts, I taught a class that was just so much fun, and mess, and full of lots of goodies. In my normal fashion, I had the most inordinate time remembering names, ( and there were only 7 ladies!! doh what am I like?) I had the pleasure of meeting Doone (Donna) , Carmen ( Miranda! lol), Lizzie, Barbara, Rosemary ,Megan, and Ann. I have actually remembered your names , girls! Hurrah!

We made a curio Christmas box full of goodies I have collected for the past few months, and we played with paint, mica sprays, Terra, UTEE, Tim's Rosette die ( thank you to Wendy Vecchi for the Christmas Tree :)), mini books, stamps and of course Crackers! Where would a workshop be without crackers?  Actually the Cracker part of it was for the final little box . ( it is empty on my sample) , and  I didn't get a picture of the final pieces as we ran late , as always!

An ideal treasure chest !

It's the weekend ! Yah.. time for me to stop work and play! that's in my dreams, but for the past couple of weeks, I have been slowly making this box. It was very kindly given to me by Hels, and to be truthful, I have sort of pinched the idea from her :(, mainly to store my idea-ology in, just as she has!!! I am such a collector of boxes, and often I never do anything with them, but this so called out to me....so I got to use lots and lots of Terra all over it. I stamped into it with a calligraphic mat. I let it dry. I sprayed it with lots of blue mica sprays. I added mother of pearl Precious metal colour in some parts, and I sprayed the inside. I finally got to use my Idea-ology feet too!! I filled it with idea-ology!!

Bring your bucket and spade!

Lots of sun, travels, work, and the fact that there has been no time to create, meant this little journal/artbook page has been sadly neglected since I first painted the page with yellow spray paints about a week ago! I wanted it to be summery, and reflect the lovely weather we are having, but time eluded me, and finally after all the glue had set, I could finish it! Here is my recipe for it.
Method: paint the bare pages in mica sprays or paints. Add lots of PVA glue to lashings of silver sand. Ice the page with it! Add starfish and shells. Let it dry. Use dabbers to paint the sea, and sky. While wet add white Accent enamels. Allow to dry. Add more for brighter whites! sounds like an advert for washing clothes!!! Draw your words with Dimensional Pearls.
Brush the loose sand off your desk, and remember your bucket and spade for making sandcastles!!

Learn to Pause...

Thank you everyone who commented yesterday on my very tidy desk...lol you should see it now! The push back method is starting again, but only because I am working on a couple of projects, and the inks are out with the bottles of paints and more!
I am having a problem concentrating at the moment, and the hormones this week have kicked in badly, making me very tired, but I cannot sleep, so this morning thought I would play with the new embossing folders and some of the new Lost and Found  papers from Mr Holtz. These are fab, and emboss beautifully as they quite thick. This is a little "journal" page I made using a mica sprayed tag already on my desk, and I stamped over it "David", and added the words to the side "learn to pause or nothing worthwhile will catch up with you". I forgot I had embossed the paper, so they don't show up very well :(. The paper was edged in crushed olive distress ink.

Playing with fire!

no not really...but actually this post should really be titled a happy accident. A while ago while prepping the frame workshop for Pickleberry Crafts, I sprayed the frame on the floor , like you do, on loads of newspaper, (mainly because the Packing Pixie gets quite cross when I paint the carpet!) , and happily sprayed away with my mica sprays. I left it to dry, and  lifted the newspaper and went to throw it away, when I noticed how the sprays had covered a headline on the paper... My did I get excited! lol. I have had it sitting on my desk for a while, and after reading Gerrie's post yesterday where she has recycled some paper towel, thought I would show you it. Much too good to tear up or die cut, so I mounted it on some paper, and here is the result....

I see myself looking at headlines now with a view to painting them! You can get Crafty Notions sprays now in the shop.. I do have to add some colours swatches, but they are all sooo good, I truly don't think it matters as the colour names describe them exactly!

Let's do Lace!

Today here in the UK it is a Bank Holiday Monday, where all the Sunday drivers go out in search of lunch, clogging up the roads, and people spend time with their families, and muggins here works! I shall be taking my Bank Holiday Monday on a Tuesday sometime soon, and go out in search of lunch and retail therapy! Ikea and Costco, I hear you calling! lol
Over on Hel's blog, the Sunday Stampers theme is Lace, a song I know and as soon as I saw the title I started singing it... how bad is that? Agadoo, doo, doo.. Anyways, I digress and we have such gorgeous lace stamps that I love using, that I altered a small window book, and added a utee moulded head, covered in Perfect Pearls to a Idea-ology Frame, that I added Precious Metal colour to, and attached it to the window of the book with long brads. I sprayed the book in all shades of Mica paint, some of which will be available at Ally Pally and in the shop after that. Where does the lace come into it , you ask? I stamped the Large Lace background on the cover in Cobalt blue Archival Ink, and I love the way this stamp just gives you an impression. The inside has the edging lace just stamped on the inside.

Just messing around

Often when I am stuck for ideas or just in need of time ( really must organize myself more!) I get out my journal and my spray paints and an old bit of newspaper and play! I am always afraid to do too much , like add writing or pics, ( I do like simple things), so here is the result of a couple of pages, that I made yesterday. I used the flower chipboard and just laid them on the pages while I sprayed with lots of different colours....I think messy comes to mind, and the carpet looks good too! Must remember to put down more newspaper! lol

Sketch Postcard

I seem to have lost time, my mojo, and many other things this week, and how to kick start my mojo has been bothering me, so I decided to spray one of the new postcards with some mica sprays. I used the oranges and reds from Crafty Notions, with a little bit of Gold Glimmer MIst,, and let them dry. I loved the way they dried in puddles.

Then I grabbed several stamps from my drawer, and used the sequin open stamp with Barn Door distress ink, and stamped on top. One of Tim's stamp sets aptly named Purely Random, the words and  two figures from the same set were stamped on top. I really wanted this to be almost a journal page/postcard, so added the Ranger white pen in various places. I then used the paper distresser to distress off the edges. It is really hard to know when to stop...but I have to say I was rather pleased with the finished piece. I think I shall use this piece for inclusion in the Lots to do challenge this week, as it it is sort of distressed!

 I know I shouldn't be taking a day off, but the chance to go and see the Van Gogh exhibition at the Royal Academy was too good an offer to refuse! A visit to the London Bead shop also beckons!! lol
